Adding centrepieces to your space

Our eyes are naturally drawn to centrepieces in any environment that capture our attention however making the most of this whilst maintaining a sense of unity and subtle elegance can be a difficult balance to strike. Here are some design insights from Neli about how to bring this into any space.

It starts with planning what statement you want to make about setting the right ambience or depicting who you are as a person. Far from being imposing, focus on the purpose of the space from creating a relaxing environment that is a retreat from the outside world to entertaining others. Be playful with form as well. Focal points may take on various shapes, colours and textures dating from traditional fireplaces, antiques and elaborately crafted furniture to modern works of art that you can fall in love with.

The focal point for a room should reflect its purpose and the mood that you want to create whether to entertain or relax as a retreat from modern day life. You want to make a statement that encompasses the room and your own sense of identity and really open up the space, perhaps with intriguing interior architectural details or mirror designs that strike a conversation. However, refined luxury decor is about ensuring that each element of the aesthetic complements one another seamlessly and working with a designer to bring your vision to life can be a great way to maximise a space’s potential.
